Everything is ordinary. The huge factory that can be seen from our town, the Medical Mechanica Plant, all the adults got excited when it came here, like it was really a big thing. The white steam that billows out every day at the same time, it looked to me like smoke that signified some kind of omen. Smoke that spreads out and covers everything.

FLCL (pronounced Fooly Cooly) is a weird as shit anime that aired on Adult Swim every midnight in 2003 and permanently imprinted itself in the minds of many impressionable nerds

it's about a boy named Naota who meets a woman named Haruko who promptly smashes him in the face with a bass guitar, causing robots to grow out of his head

it's also a very tender slice of life about the pressures of puberty and adolescence

it's very, very good if you haven't watched it, and you should because it's all on Hulu and you can knock it out in about two hours
