Early Access [Steam] Thread
I am proud to announce that the Steam thread (which made 300% of its funding goal on Kickstarter) is now available for open alpha.
Features include single player, multiplayer (requires port forwarding and making blood sacrifices to the packet gods) and a menu screen that probably won't give you a BSOD.
Textures and story content will be released in the next update.

TOMODACHi LiFE: SE++ Island Edition.
Tomodachi Life is a Nintendo 3DS game where you create Miis and watch them get up to all kinds of silly stuff with a bit of input from the player. You are set up with managing your Island and putting whatever goofy butterfly effects into motion.
If you want to really understand Tomodachi Life, Brill Trinen can get you up to speed.
I wanna fill my Island up with outstanding miis, so lets post our Tomodachi QR Codes and record the antics they get up to. We can make a google Doc, if this takes off.
QR Codes for Miis outside of Tomodachi Life are welcome too, but post some info to help us fill out the rest.
We gotta input a personality. There's a fun little quiz you can take here.
and some facts like the Mii’s name & birthdate (feel free to fake this), Birthdate-less Miis are exempt from some stuff.
Up to 100 Miis can inhabit an island, so feel free to share awesome miis you've found or created.

Spend your summer on [Butt Island]
There is a new show coming this Friday to the Disney Channel!
The show concerns the adventures of twin brother and sister Dipper and Mabel Pines, whose summer plans are ruined when their parents ship them off to their Great Uncle Stan in Gravity Falls, Oregon. Uncle Stan lives in and runs The Mystery Shack, a tourist trap which overcharges unlucky visitors for a glimpse at the world's most bizarre museum, but little do Dipper and Mabel know that there really is something very strange going on and they must rely on one another to find their way in this unfamiliar town.
The show was created by Alex Hirsch, who based it on his real-life experiences in Oregon as a kid. It's gotten good reviews so far, and I'm eagerly awaiting the places it might go. The show is packed with codes and secret symbols, with the promise of an overarching plot layered into the standalone episodes.
The first episode is free to download on iTunes, so check it out!

We are communication scholars interested in surveying gamers' online gaming experiences with other players. We want to know often you socialize with other gamers and friends? What you think of other players? The survey will take on average 20 minutes.

The Abbott Government has promised to amend the Racial Discrimination Act by repealing section 18C, which makes it unlawful for someone to publicly "offend, insult, humiliate or intimidate" a person or a group of people.He said the Government is acting in the interests of free speech.

Protomen Classic: Act I now available in vinyl!
After a rather chilly reception in the concert thread and the realization that we've been without a Protomen thread for a few days I decided to give my own shot at reviving it.
If you don't know, the Protomen are a group who travel the land telling the true story of Dr. Light and his battle against the oppressive Dr. Wily's regime.
They recently released the second part of this story: Act II: Father of Death, and last Friday they put on a CD release show in Nashville featuring both acts.

But mostly there was rocking.

It was an utterly fantastic show, with around 40 musicians including the band, a brass section, strings section, and chorus all coming together to give a great performance, despite some technical issues.
Good news for those who missed it as well, the whole thing was filmed, and will either be up on the site or put on a DVD "If it's good enough", but I'm not sure of the time frame.
Anyway this thread is to continue discussion of the album or talk about the show if anyone else was there!

The basic premise is that you and group of people take turns putting on youtube videos and stuff from soundcloud in a public group viewing/listening party
the whole thing is spiced up by a nice-looking, good UI and the way everyone in the room is represented by different avatars like these guys
they have dance animations and stuff that look fairly nice
you start with about 7 avatars and unlock more by getting points, earned from Wooting (liking) songs/videos and having the songs and videos that you played wooted
it's surprisingly cool
we have our own PA Forums room that we use a good bit

Summer Games Done Quick 2014: Invoking Marathon Luck

Hey champ! Do you like these weird things called...video games? Do you like to play your games really fast? No? Well, do you like to watch other people play these games really fast? If so, then do I have the event for YOU. It's called Games Done Quick, a speedrun marathon that occurs not once but TWICE each year, and the summer marathon is starting soon. How soon? How about JUNE 22ND AT 11AM PDT?
"Yeah, so it's coming," you say with a dry, un-enthused tone, "but so what?"
SO WHAT? The summer marathon is all about raising money for Doctors Without Borders, an organization that gets medical help to areas ravaged by natural diasters, war, and other calamities regardless of their race, religion, and so on. A solid organization if I saw one. Every cent the marathon makes goes to charity: all the runners, equipment, and so on is paid out of pocket by the people attending. Everyone present has taken time off from their daily routine to volunteer for this event, and spectators aren't charged to attend. Last winter, the marathon managed to get over a million dollars in donations for the first time in its history! An incredible achievement THAT YOU CAN BE PART OF!

If you were born with an icy heart made of the darkest coal, then there's some self-centered incentives so that even YOUR dour person can be moved to donate. Many runs will have various goodies raffled off for people that donate during that run, such as perlers, copies of the game being played (which sometimes are quite rare), and even a grand prize given away at the end (I think it's a Wii U bundle this year)! Are you such an empty husk of humanity that this isn't enough? Do you need something a bit more guaranteed before parting with your money that was probably stolen from school children? FEAR NOT, because our friends at Yetee have a bunch of shirts made JUST for the marathon. Every sale will give three dollars to the marathon, so even the Scroogiest of you can contribute. But careful: these shirts are ONLY available during the marathon.
That's about it. Oh wait, how about a nifty schedule that adjusts itself to your PC's clock USING THE POWER OF MAGIC? Or I can link to their YouTube channel which has all of the runs from previous marathons. You know, something to whet the appetite.
So let's chill and spend the week watching video games. And stay tuned for the special BONUS STREAM that occurs for a few days after the main marathon ends. Also, never forget:

Kevin Trudeau is finally going to jail.
"Kevin Trudeau, the television pitchman and author who amassed a fortune telling consumers his secrets about how to get free money, how to lose weight and how to cure a number of illnesses the natural way, is headed to federal prison.
Trudeau, 51, was sentenced to 10 years on Monday for criminal contempt for violating a 2004 federal court order that prohibited him from making misleading infomercials and misrepresenting his weight-loss books. "
I hate this guy, I mean really really hate him. His books are nonsense that prey on peoples' worst fears. I relished explaining to people why his books weren't in the library and I hope he has the worst possible prison experience.
